About us
From one yellow punjabi to a thousand feet
Himu Paribahan was born in 2012 from a circle of readers who wanted to walk like Himu — towards people.
Origin story
After Humayun Ahmed passed away in July 2012, a few young readers met at Dhaka University wearing yellow punjabis to mourn the author. That evening they bought food for street children near Shahbag instead of holding a memorial.
The idea spread on social media: "If Himu were real, what would he do?" Within a year, chapters had formed in Sylhet, Chattogram and Mymensingh. Today Himu Paribahan runs relief, health and literature programmes across Bangladesh — all volunteer-led.
The name "Paribahan" (transport) is a playful nod: we are a vehicle that carries kindness wherever it is needed.

The Himu philosophy
নির্লোভ
Selflessness
Like Himu's pocketless punjabi, we carry nothing for ourselves.

Walking
We walk to people — into floods, chars and cold northern villages.
জোছনা
Wonder
We keep a sense of moonlit wonder, reading and art alive.
মানবতা
Humanity
No politics, no religion — only people beside people.
Tribute
জুবায়ের কবির তুষার
Jubaer Kabir Tusher — Founder
Tusher believed that a novel could change a person and a person could change a village. He walked barefoot to every early relief site, kept a notebook of every volunteer's name, and insisted that the first cup of tea always go to the newest member. His spirit is the road we still walk.
“হিমু হওয়া যায় না, হিমুর মতো হাঁটা যায়।”
